The following year his remains are repatriated to the Schoenstatt Sanctuary in Bellavista de La Florida (Santiago). In November 2019 the nominee of Mario Hiriart’s cause, the P. Eduardo Aguirre, had anticipated that from the Congregation of the Cause of the Saints, it was known of “the final answer that the Congress of Theologians has manifested unanimously affirmatively and without any repair on the cause.”
According to the bulletin of the Vatican Stampa Room, on February 21, 2020, Pope Francis received in audience Cardinal Angelo Becciu, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. During the hearing, the pontiff authorized this Congregation to enact various decrees, among them the one that recognizes the heroic virtues of Mario Hiriart.Translated from Spanish
