What is Schoenstatt?

Schoenstatt is a Catholic Apostolic Movement that was birthed in the heart of Germany and has since spread its wings across the globe. With a deep-rooted Marian spirituality, it seeks to bring about a spiritual renewal within individuals and communities, lighting the path to a closer relationship with God.

A Brief History

Schoenstatt was founded by Father Joseph Kentenich in 1914 in Schoenstatt, a small town in Germany. Despite the turbulence of World War II, Father Kentenich remained steadfast in his mission, spreading the message of trust in Divine Providence and fostering a Covenant of Love with Mary.

Today, the movement has extended its reach to over 49 countries, welcoming members from all vocations and walks of life.

The Core Beliefs

At the core of Schoenstatt’s teachings is a profound respect for Mary’s virtues. As a model of love and commitment to Christ, she serves as an example for us to emulate. The movement emphasizes education and personal growth, encouraging members to integrate their faith into daily life.

Schoenstatt promotes a Covenant of Love with Mary, viewing her as an educator and guide in our journey of faith. This pact of mutual exchange helps foster a deeper bond with God and an enriched spiritual life.

The Schoenstatt Shrine

The Schoenstatt Shrine is more than just a physical location; it is the beating heart of the movement. As our spiritual home and center of life, it is a place where faith, love, and commitment converge. There are now over 200 replica daughter shrines worldwide, each echoing the same spiritual resonance as the original.
