I am Sister M. Joanne Peterson. A Schoenstatt Sister of Mary here in Cape Town, South Africa. From here our sisters work in South Africa, Kenya and Scotland. \u201cSchoenstatt\u201d means \u201cbeautiful place\u201d. Many people of today are under stress. They are hurried, anxious, they are tense. They need a quiet place where they can just come and be and relax. We try and provide that from our shrines and our gardens around our shrines, where people can come and sit, come to themselves and experience God, his grace and his care. We also focus on helping people to get to know themselves and to connect with God in their everyday lives, in both the good and the bad, so that each person can be the best they can be and help to make this world a better place. We do this through our adoration hours in the shrine where we pray in people\u2019s intentions; through various activities such as youth camps, weekends for families, days of retreat, days for mothers.
