On February 8, Emilie Engel was baptized. Her baptismal day reminds me: my dignity does not depend on what I achieve, how others treat me, or what they say about me. My dignity comes from the fact that Christ died and rose again for meโand that I am baptized into him.
M. Emilie recounts that she was often afraid and discouraged. As a child, she even hid under the stairs. Later she learned to look each day for the โsigns of lightโ: moments of goodness, signs of Godโs closeness. This brightens the soul and gives strength.
