1st Sunday of Advent – Being Watchful in Hope
“Be watchful.”
In the midst of the darkness of night, a voice invites us: be watchful.
Watchful with an attentive heart, filled with light, filled with Christ.
Being watchful does not only mean waiting, but waiting with love, with the certainty that the Light is already near.
Advent begins with this call to keep hope alive,
not to be discouraged by routine or by the exhaustion of the heart.
Mary, too, was watchful: in silence, in prayer, she waited trustfully for the fulfillment of the promise.
With her, we learn to keep the lamp of our heart burning even when the morning has not yet come.
